Beautiful view of Paris!
Today was an amazing day! We started our day with breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast met my expectations completely. The breakfast mainly consisted of bread. There was also fresh fruit, yogurt and eggs. They offered tea, coffee, water, orange juice and grapefruit juice with our breakfast. It was delicious, my personal favorite was the chocolate chip croissants. After breakfast we had our first experience on the metro. It was a lot easier than I expected. The language barrier was a bit intimidating. Although having a professor fluent in French helps a lot! Next we went on a bus tour around the city. It was extremely interesting. I also enjoyed the fact it was an open top bus. It was neat to view Paris from a different perspective than walking. The bus also told us the history of the places we drove by. Along with some cultural music. Later we went to the Eiffel Tower. It was amazing. I had no idea how much of work of art it was until I saw it in person. The best part of the day in my opinion was eating lunch on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. The name of the restaurant was 56 Tour Eiffel. The food was superb. Our meal started with bread and wine. Next we had a ceaser salad. The main course consisted of chicken. This was by far some of the best chicken I have ever had. The dessert was also wonderful! I had to keep reminding myself that I was eating in the Eiffel Tower it was unbelievable. After exploring the Eiffel Tower we went on a cruise down the river. It was really exciting to view Paris from the water. We saw Notre Dame while on the cruise and the view was spectacular. Throughout the cruise we heard interesting facts about the city. After the cruise we got to visit Napoleon’s tomb. The paintings on the ceiling inside of where Napoleon’s tomb is located are spectacular. In fact the whole location of Napoleon’s tomb is amazing. There is marble and gold anywhere you look. After this we got back on the bus for another tour. It was relaxing and neat to see another side of Paris. After the tour the bus took us to our dinner location. Dinner consisted of conversing about the day and trying wine and cheeses from different regions throughout Paris. Overall the day was incredible. I could not believe how large Paris is. The city has a surplus of history. It is truly amazing to experience. Paris surpassed all my expectations. I thought the food would be horrible and it has been nothing but amazing. I also expected the Eiffel Tour to be extremely crowded and rowdy but it was actually pretty tranquil at the top. I also expected the city to be small and easy to navigate but I feel as though it would take hundreds of trips to see everything. Paris is full of beauty and history.
A little Eiffel Tower obsessed.
