We finally arrived in Paris! We are staying in the Best
Western Weha. It is beautiful here. Our flight was eight hours long so we have
had a relatively laxed day. I was extremely surprised to see that our hotel is
located in Paris’ equivalent of Chinatown. Although Paris’ Chinatown it is much
cleaner and nicer than New York’s. There are Asian influenced restaurants all
down our street. All the buildings are much smaller here than in the United
States. It is especially noticeable inside of the stores. However when our
group of eleven people began walking in a small market the locals were not
happy. I feel, as though, in Paris people are not as accepting of tourist as in
America. I thought it was interesting to see the amount of people wearing
something with an American flag on it. I saw three locals wearing items such as
t-shirts and scarfs that had the American flag printed on them. There was even
a street vendor selling an American flag button up shirt. Transportation is
very different here. All the cars are much smaller than cars in the United
States. Many people walk. Other means of transportations include roller skates,
bikes, and scooters. We have a long day of sightseeing tomorrow which I am very
excited for!
Beautiful street right by our hotel.
